▶JFRA inauguration Symposium 2009
“The new innovation in philanthropic giving culture begins now”

・On 18th Feb 2009, the symposium to celebrate foundation of JFRA was held in The United Nations
University, U Thant International Conference Hall. Roughly 400 people attended to the symposium
from across the country.
・580 people from 5 countries and all of the 47 Japanese prefectures become the founding
member of JFRA.
・Paulette Maehara, the CEO of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, delivered a key note
speech to celebrate foundation of JFRA. The Association of Fundraising Professionals is the world
biggest fundraising association, with almost 50 years history.


▶The Fundraising Japan 2010/2011
JFRA held “Fundraising Japan”, the first and the biggest fundraising conference in the country.
・400 delegates attended to Fundraising Japan 2010.

・Some attended from overseas, including the U.S.A, England, Germany, Poland and Hong Kong.
▶Fundraising of the Year Award
JFRA launched “Fundraising of the Year” award program from 2010.
・“JAPAN COMMITTEE VACCINES FOR THE WORLD’S CHILDREN” (JCV) was selected as the first
winner of the Fundraising of the Year.

・Later, JCV was selected as a finalist for the World’s first global awards for fundraising at
the International Fundraising Congress held by the Resource Alliance.

・The second Fundraising of the Year (2011) was sponsored by Blackbaud, inc.
“Ashinaga-Ikueikai”- educational and emotional support for orphans worldwide won the award.
▶“Giving Japan 2010” was published
・The first annual giving and volunteering report in Japan, “Giving Japan 2010”, was published
to reveal the full picture of Japanese giving market. The market size is estimated as 1 trillion
yen (US$ 12.5 billion).
